This facility provides expert mass spectrometry services for identifying proteins, quantifying levels of expression and sequencing.

The proteomics approach enables abundant proteins to be removed so that focus can be directed to the low expressing proteins that are potential novel markers of disease, or targets for therapy.

Key assets include the Applied Biosystems 4700 Proteomics Discovery System (MALDI-TOF-TOF) for protein identification and mass fingerprinting, the Capillary LC and HCT Ultra Ion Trap for protein identification and post translational analysis, the Nano LC and Micro TOF/q system for high accuracy mass spectrometry and quantification, and the Applied Biosystems Procise Protein Sequencer for N-terminal sequencing of picomole quantities of protein or peptide.
