The Ovarian Biomarkers Lab at Hudson Institute of Medical Research is applying innovative techniques to progress the development of a non-invasive screening test for ovarian cancer. The team uses isotope protein coded labelling to conduct detailed analysis of patient’s urine samples. The findings, published in the Journal of Proteome Research, showed elevated levels of several established and new potential ovarian cancer protein markers in patient urine samples. The team is now working to determine the effectiveness of these new markers as the basis of a non-invasive test for the diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
