Compared to non-Indigenous Australians, 70% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people are more likely to die from lung cancer.
Acknowledging the importance of these statistics Cancer Australia
has developed a free online module for Indigenous and Torres Strait
Islander health workers which is also a useful tool for nurses working
in this area.
The module includes video segments depicting how to discuss lung cancer
treatment steps with patients, in addition to explaining complex medical
information in plain language.
