The Alfred is a major tertiary referral teaching hospital. It has a major role in the provision of specialist tertiary and quaternary services on a statewide and national basis.
Specialist services include trauma services, emergency and intensive care, comprehensive cancer services, blood diseases, respiratory medicine, melanoma, bone marrow transplant, cardiology / cardiovascular services, neurosurgery, general and specialist surgery and medicine, psychiatry and diagnostic services.
The Alfred’s statewide services include heart and lung replacement and transplantation, cystic fibrosis, burns, HIV/AIDS, haemophilia, sexual health, hyperbaric medicine and elective surgery.
The Alfred provides acute and mental health care services to the residents of the local municipalities to meet the health needs of the local community. These services are provided in a range of inpatient and ambulatory settings and in partnership with other community providers.

Caulfield Hospital provides a range of specialty services in the areas of community services, rehabilitation, aged care, residential care and aged mental health. In addition, the hospital has a statewide role in the provision of rehabilitation services to people throughout Victoria.
Many services are provided through outpatient and community based programs that focus on enhancing the health, independence and overall well-being of people residing in the community.

Sandringham Hospital is a community hospital with a strong focus on meeting the health care needs of its local community. The Hospital plays an important part in the delivery of Women’s & Children’s Health for surrounding areas including a 12 bed Maternity and birthing suite, a level 2 Special Care Nursery, Breastfeeding Support & Paediatrics.
Our 24 hour Emergency Department is seeing increasing numbers of patients including children with over 30000 Patients being seen in 2010.
The General Medical Units and Nursing Care teams support elective surgery generated by Alfred Health, including Anaesthetics, General Surgery, Gynaecological and Orthopaedic.
An Outpatient Clinic is also run Monday-Friday with clinics including Orthopaedic (including fracture clinic), Family Medical & Obstetrics, Pre-Admission, Paediatric & Cardiac Clinics.
A number of ambulatory care services are also located at Sandringham Hospital including a 12 chair Dialysis unit. Post-operative rehabilitation is co-ordinated between Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals.
Additional services available include Physiotherapy, Diabetic Education, Aged Care, HITH, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Dieticians & Speech Pathology.
Sandringham Hospital also offers both inpatient and bulk billing outpatient service for Radiology and Pathology
